   Step 6:
  • Set "Cancel the call if not connected within" to 60 secs
  • Verify that the "Cancel the call if not connected within..." and "Disconnect a call if idle..." is un-checked
  • Then select Advanced

   Step 7:

  • Review settings. "Use flow control" must be set to "Hardware". "Use Error Control", change these setting "Required to connect" and "Compress data" if you are having problems connecting or you are getting disconnected often. First try one selection i.e. "Required to connect", then a different combination if you still have problems. "Modulation type" should be "Standard". "Extra settings" should be blank. Click OK when finished. You may now click OK again and this will drop you back to the Dial-up Networking Window.

  • Please attempt these settings prior to contacting tech support, as it will speed up the process of resolving your problem In addition to these recommended settings, it is recommended that your modem drivers and firmware be upgraded often. As ISP's continue to integrate high speed digital equipment, older, legacy modems and in some cases modern modems, can have difficulty connecting or staying connected.
